As we grow old, some of us believe that we have gotten rid of this behaviour and have moved on; but no, we do not really get rid of it, the behaviour simple matures
to a more complex form and style, we have more things to hide, more secrets to keep, more lies to tell ourselves as well others, we still cover our face, but we are indeed exposed, exposed to our conscience, exposed to our weakness, exposed to our mind, exposed to our fears.
As the child covers the eyes, so do we as adults cover our
identity, fears, insecurities, personality and real self. What we give out or
try to let others see in our appearance, behaviour and persona, does not always
match what we truly feel inside.
The picture above to me depicts someone who is trying his
possible best to hide himself from the world. I also see the real self (that is
the face) trying it possible best to break loose. I can also see the blank look
of the real self, one close to sadness, one not happy with the outside self and
do not really understand why he should be hidden; why his potentials are thwarted
by the outward self.
This is what society do to us, because of it rules and
regulation, because of it unwritten orders, because of it shaming tact, we hide
who we truly are in the inside just because we want to conform, just because we
want to feel accepted and be the same.
The thing society and the outward self are not aware of is
that diversity is one of the key to success, joy, peace and the birth of new
ideas that will take us to a better and elevated level. If only we accept
peoples differences, peoples identity, their ideas, then we can truly have a
break to new dimensions.
To the outward self, embrace your inner self and let it
show, it is then that your spirit can have a easy flow, giving you giant steps
to self discovery, your potentials, and most of all, putting you in a state of
bliss, where you can find true happiness, joy and peace.
Accept the you in the inside, stop that childish behaviour
of covering your face and be happy, be truly happy.
